INFORMATION FOR USE REQUEST SAMPLE

1. The Chemo gowns are intended to protect healthcare personnel from exposure to chemotherapy drugs during preparation, handling, and administration. When chemotherapy drugs are present gown selection should be based on the specific type(s) of chemicals used. Users are recommended to review drug labeling and material safety data sheets for the chemicals used to determine the adequate level of protection. Not intended for use in the operating room. In case the gown is exposed to a very high concentrated liquid or substance that may require a different suit design please make sure that you have chosen the garment suitable for your job.

2. This disposable Chemo Gown with tape provides barrier protection based on AAMI guidelines and helps reduce the risk of contamination and transmission of infectious organisms that lead to HAIs.

3. Protective Performances are categorized by 4 distinct levels of protection (or barrier performance).  AAMI refers to the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation. AAMI is an international standards organization that develops and publishes technical standards for the medical device industry

AAMI PB70:2012 details specific test methods and passing criteria in order to label an isolation gown as AAMI 1, 2, 3, or 4 rated. A summary of the required testing is in the table below.

AAMI Levels and Testing Methods
AAMI Level Test Method Criteria
1 AATCC-42: Water Resistance: Impact Penetration ≤ 4.5g
2 AATCC-42: Water Resistance: Impact Penetration ≤ 1.0g
AATCC-127: Water Resistance: Hydrostatic Pressure ≥ 20cm
3 AATCC-42: Water Resistance: Impact Penetration ≤ 1.0g
AATCC-127: Water Resistance: Hydrostatic Pressure ≥ 50cm
4 ASTM F1671: Viral Penetration Pass

4. ASTM F739-12 standard published by the American Society for Testing and Materials ( ASTM), describes the features and properties, and testing methods for the passage of liquids and gases through the protective clothing materials under contact conditions. ASTM F739-12 method is designed for use when the test chemical is a gas or liquid, where the liquid is either volatile (i.e having a vapor pressure greater than 1 mm Hg at 25C) or soluble in water or another liquid that does not interact with the clothing material.

5. The material used in these gowns has been tested against the following chemotherapy drugs as per ASTM F739-12 and no breakthrough was observed during the test duration of 480 minutes based on the average standardized breakthrough time
Carmustine
Cisplatin
Cyclophosphamide
Dacarbazine
Doxorubicin Hydrochloride
Etoposide
Fluorouracil
Mitomycin C
Paclitaxel
Thiotepa
Vincristine Sulfate

6. Critical zone are areas of the gown that are expected to come into contact with fluid. For this Chemo gown the front of the body from the top of shoulder to knees and the arms from the wrist cuff to above the elbow is deemed critical

7. Shelf life of our gowns is 5 years. Lot no and Date of Expiry is mentioned on each package.

8.  Donning: Before entering patient treatment areas don a hair cover, shoe covers, N95 respirator mask, goggles, and face shield. Wash hands, and then don a chemo-rated gown. Fully cover the torso from neck to knees, arms, and end of wrists and wrap around the back. Fasten the back of the neck and waist. Apply 2 pair chemo gloves, placing the inner glove underneath the cuff of the chemo gown, and the outer glove over and completely covering the cuff of the chemo gown.

9. Doffing: Remove outer chemo gloves first. Remove chemo gown and other PPE before removing inner pair of gloves. Unfasten gown ties, taking care that sleeves don’t contact your body when reaching for the ties. Pull gown away from neck and shoulders. Turn gown inside out. Fold and roll into a bundle and discard in a waste container or as defined by your regulations.
